Reporting health and safety concerns:
All members of the University have a right to report health and safety concerns.

If there is a situation that requires immediate attention or there is a risk of imminent injury, report the situation directly to the University Police Department by calling 203.837.9300.

The preferred course of action for all other situations is to report concerns, unsafe situations, or hazardous conditions through the University’s work-order management system, Maintenance Direct ®. To do this, click on the logo below, follow the prompts, and when selecting a “craft”, choose “Health/Safety”, so as to direct the work order to the appropriate facilities team member.

All members of the University community are encouraged to report hazardous conditions to the facilities team or the University Police Department immediately.  Students and visitors are also encouraged to report hazardous or potentially hazardous situations by whatever convenient means available (University Police, Facilities Team or Residence Life).  Situations that warrant reporting could include, but are not limited to, obstructions, spills, ice/slippery conditions, snow accumulations, lighting issues, and fire safety issues.

Reporting an accident or injury while at WCSU:
WCSU strives to maintain a safe and healthy environment our community and visitors.  In the event that any member of the University community or a visitor suffers a personal injury on campus and requires immediate attention or emergency care, dial 911 from any University telephone.  If the incident does not require immediate medical attention, it is important that the injury be reported in a timely manner to one or more of the following:

For students:        An instructor/faculty member or Residence Life staff, depending on the location where injury occurred

For employees:    Your supervisor, department head or Dean

For visitors:          Any University staff member or the University Police department

When in doubt, the University Police Department should always be contacted so that a report can be taken and the incident documented.  Even if it seems minor at the time, the incident should be reported as soon as reasonably possible to the University Police Department.
