Orientation

Welcome New Students!

Western Connecticut State University offers two main orientation programs for students entering in the fall and one compressed orientation program in January for new students entering in the spring. Please click on the links below for dates and details regarding each of the respective orientation programs.

Students Entering in the Fall

The two orientation programs for students entering in the fall consist of our main orientation program in June and LEAP (Learn, Engage, Adapt, and Plan) Week before and during our first week of classes.

Summer Orientation
At the summer orientation sessions students will have a chance to get their ID card, class schedule, computer passwords, books, etc. while at the same time meeting faculty, staff, and fellow students. Parents will have the opportunity to attend valuable parent workshops and mingle with faculty and staff.

LEAP (Learn, Engage, Adapt, and Plan)  Week
LEAP (Learn, Engage, Adapt, Plan) Week consists of a variety of programs scheduled before, during, and after the first week of classes ranging from workshops and lectures to barbecues, clubs carnival, movies, and concerts. Parents are encouraged to attend workshops and tour WCSU on the first day of LEAP Week only.

Students Entering in the Spring

Students entering in the Spring semester will receive initial information from the Admissions office. New students should attend the mandatory meetings for resident and commuter students usually held in the evening of move-in day. Various social activities later in the evening provide opportunities to meet other students.
