The APA has produced a series of videos to help students who are preparing to apply for graduate school. They are well worth watching BEFORE you apply!

Employment with a BA in Psychology Degree

Students with bachelor degrees in psychology may enter on-the-job training programs in industrial and business organizations. Others may find positions in state civil service, personnel work, social service, sales, and interviewing. Entry level jobs in marketing research, public relations and advertising are often available to undergraduate psychology majors. Students interested in preparing for counseling or college teaching careers, however, must continue study at the Master’s or Doctoral level. The Doctoral level of training is required for careers in clinical, experimental, educational and social psychology.

An introduction to the diversity within psychology can be obtained by reading the booklets, Careers in Psychology and Psychology as a Health Care Profession, published by the American Psychological Association (APA), which is the governing professional organization in psychology. Single copies of the two booklets are available free of charge from the APA upon request.

Student memberships in the APA are available which would enable students to enter subscriptions for any number of APA journals and publications. Further APA information is available from the:
