The WCSU Student Veterans Organization

The Student Veterans Organization (SVO) is a club established in 2009 to acknowledge the needs of Western veterans who wish to better integrate into the university community. Officially recognized and endorsed by the Student Government Association, the SVO is comprised of student veterans who wish to support and serve other veterans – at WCSU and abroad – in a number of ways. For example, the SVO collects items to be sent overseas as part of an ongoing effort called Operation Care Package.

The club also plans to host a number of benefit dinners and will sponsor a variety of fund raising activities in the coming year. These “Combat to College” events will assist Western veterans from all branches of the military who are in the process of transitioning to civilian life and to the college environment. With the continued help and support of Western’s dedicated faculty and staff and generous contributions made by members of the greater Danbury area, the SVO plans to continue expanding its support of veterans at Western and our troops around the world.

The SVO is located in the Student Center, Room 208, on the Midtown campus. The veterans room was dedicated for use by WCSU to honor and support our student veterans.

The SVO offers student veterans:

  • Four semi-private work stations, equipped with computers
  • TV lounge
  • Snacks
  • 24-hour access with WestCONNect Card/Veteran I.D. Card
