New Student/Faculty

The WESTCONNect Office provides identification cards and access for all students, faculty and staff of Western Connecticut State University. If you are a new member of the university community, select from the below options to learn how to obtain your ID and related access and card privileges 

Once you obtain your WESTCONNect Card, you are able to manage it online, including reporting it as lost or stolen, adding funds to your card, reviewing your CONNect Cash expenditures, meal plan balances and activities, and ConnectPrint balances. to learn how to do this, please visit our card services page.

New Student

Once you have registered for your classes, you are eligible to receive a WESTCONNect ID Card.  Your WESTCONNect Card should be kept secure and is not automatically replaced each semester or year.  Replacement of cards that are lost, damaged will result in a $15 charge to your student account.  Your valid WESTCONNect ID card can provide a multitude of access rights and privileges including:

  • Access to the three Student 24-hour Computer Labs

  • Access to your Residence Hall/Room (Resident Students Only)

  • Access to the Fifth Avenue Commuter Student Garage (Commuter Students Only)

  • Access to restricted areas related to fields of study, including labs, practice rooms, and studios, as authorized

  • Ability to check out materials at the WCSU Library

  • Ability to use the CONNect Cash program at designated locations on and off campus

  • Use of ConnectPrint Program, printing at designated locations on campus

  • Ability to sign up for Student Advantage Discount Program

  • Ability to use Fitness Facilities during hours of operation

  • Free or reduced rate entrance to a variety of University events

Once you have registered for classes, bring a copy of your class registration along with a photo ID such as a driver’s license or passport to the WESTCONNect Card Office.  We will then take your photo and issue your ID card.  Please note that the ID card is only turned on for use during semesters when you are a registered student.  To learn more about our card services, click here.   To learn more about our door access and security controls, click here.

New Employee

WCSU employees use their WESTCONNect ID’s for:

  • Access to authorized buildings and classrooms on campus

  • Ability to check out materials at the WCSU Library

  • Ability to use the CONNect Cash program at designated locations on and off campus

  • Ability to use Fitness Facilities during hours of operation

The WESTCONNect Office is able to process new employees who have been processed by the Human Resources Department located on the first floor of University Hall.  Bring a valid photo identification such as a driver’s license or passport to the WESTCONNect Office at the back of Old Main.  To learn more about our card services, click here.  To learn more about our door access and security controls, click here.
