Biographical Information

Dr. John Caruso Jr., Professor of Education, earned seven degrees and certificates including a B.A. in History & Political Science, M.A. in European History, M.A. in Educational Technology, M.S. in Sociology, M.S. in Counseling, P.E.D. in Educational Foundations, and a Ph.D. in Curriculum & Supervision. He is certified Grades 7-12 in History/Social Studies; certified as an Elementary Education Supervisor, holds a Certificate in Art Psychotherapy and in Career Counseling.
Dr. Caruso lived in Europe and Asia for fourteen years and visited more than 100 nations as an educational consultant and seminar leader. Dr. Caruso was a Fulbright Scholar at Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea; received a National Endowment for the Humanities Grant to study China, Japan and India and a three year Eisenhower Grant to create Westconn’s Professional Development School.  He studied and lectured at universities in Germany, United Kingdom, Russia, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, China and founded the Westconn Institute for International Education.

He taught or conducted research at Yale, Harvard, the Institut für Zeitgeschichte (Munich), the University of Southern California, the University of Maryland, the University of Connecticut, Edinboro University, the University of Nevada, ECSU, CCSU, SCSU and three community colleges.  His current areas of teaching and research are Instructional Technology and promoting diversity through fine arts. He has authored more than 80 refereed articles and two books; made 60 national and international presentations; and conducted educational projects for UNESCO.
