Biographical Information

Dr. Kathryn Campbell is the Coordinator of the Graduate School Counseling Program and former Chair of the Education and Educational Psychology Department. She earned her PhD in school psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University, where her dissertation won the Miriam Goldberg Research Prize.  She received her M. S. in Education from Hunter College of the City University of New York.  Prior to joining the Westconn faculty, she worked in a variety of professional capacities, including classroom teacher, school administrator, reading specialist, educational consultant, psychoeducational evaluator and psychologist.

Dr. Campbell is a licensed psychologist in both Connecticut and New York State and holds New York State teaching certifications as a teacher of reading and nursery, kindergarten and grades 1-6. Dr. She teaches courses in statistics and research methods, psychopathology, individual counseling and multicultural counseling in the Counselor Education Program at Western and also supervises interns in school counseling. In addition, Dr. Campbell has taught courses in reading at Teachers College, Columbia University and Bank Street College of Education in New York City. In 2010 she received the Connecticut University System University-Level Trustees Teaching Award.
