Biographical Information

Dr. Nicole G. DeRonck, teaches in both the school and clinical counselor training programs. She holds an undergraduate degree in Psychology from Gettysburg College, a M.S. Rehabilitation Counseling and Certificate of Advanced Study in School Counseling from the State University of New York at Albany. Dr. DeRonck holds doctorates in Educational Leadership (Ed.D) and in Counselor Education and Counseling Psychology (Ph.D.) from Central Connecticut State University and the University of Connecticut respectively. Dr. DeRonck holds CT certification as a school counselor and intermediate administrator. She also holds national credentials as a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC). Dr. DeRonck has extensive experience working in the field as a school counselor and district counseling administrator. She has developed and implemented award winning school counseling programs that have received accolades at the state and national level, most notably, her district was the first to have a school receive Recognized ASCA Model Program (RAMP) status in Connecticut from the American School Counselor Association (ASCA).  Dr. DeRonck has served at the state and national levels for a number of professional organizations in her field.  Dr. DeRonck’s research interests include College and Career Readiness, Counseling Program Development, Counselor Preparation, and Professional Growth, and Access to Equitable Programs in Underserved Populations. She has published, and has lectured locally, regionally, and nationally in her research areas.  Dr. DeRonck consults with school districts on program development and evaluation and providing professional development for counselors.  She has also collaborated with the State Department of Education on various projects related to school counseling and school improvement. Dr. DeRonck and her husband have one child and enjoy spending time together reading, playing, enjoying outdoor activities, and visiting with extended family and friends.
