Thanks, as always, to Elena and the Sodexo crew for all of their hard work and a special thanks to the following local farms for providing additional ingredients: Halas Farm of Danbury, Warrups Farm of Redding and The Hickories Farm of Ridgefield.

Help from our friends at the WCSU Performing Arts Center carpentry crew to create a Jane Goodall Permaculture Garden bench that will encourage people to take a moment in reflection and rest as they come upon the garden.

WCSU Day of Service volunteers were on hand to help us with garden harvest, maintenance and clean up on September 23, 2017.

June 2016

The Jane Goodall Center for Excellence in Environmental Studies at Western Connecticut State University was presented with an ‘Environmental Champion’ Award in June 2016 by Aquarion Water Company.

WCSU is presented with award from Aquarion

The Goodall Center won the non-profit category for “ground-breaking work through a focus on the interconnectivity of people, animals and the environment,” Aquarion said in a release.

The Center was credited for volunteer efforts that brought employees of Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s and local food pantries to the Center to help plant, weed and harvest in the Jane Goodall Permaculture Garden on the midtown campus of WCSU.

The Center was also credited for collaborations to raise funds for charities, and for organizing special events in recognition of Earth Day, Clean Up the Still River Day, and Animal Week activities.

Many thanks to all of the volunteers and visitors who helped make 2016 a great garden year!
