{"id":18,"date":"2017-12-20T19:58:41","date_gmt":"2017-12-20T19:58:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wcsu.wpengine.com\/healthservices\/immunreq\/"},"modified":"2022-06-02T12:57:01","modified_gmt":"2022-06-02T12:57:01","slug":"immunization-requirements","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/staging.www.wcsu.edu\/healthservices\/immunization-requirements\/","title":{"rendered":"Connecticut State University Immunization Requirements"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\">\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>REQUIRED<\/strong><\/span>:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080\">State of Connecticut General Statutes\/ <strong>Section 10a-155<\/strong> regulations requires all matriculated students born after December 31, 1956, to provide proof of adequate immunization against measles (rubeola),<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000080\">rubella, mumps and varicella (chicken pox) before permitting such students to enroll.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080\"><em><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">1. Proof of immunity to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/vaccines\/vpd\/measles\/index.html\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Measles <\/span><\/strong><\/a><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">(Rubeola)<\/span><\/span><strong>: <\/strong>you must provide proof of the following:<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000080\">2 MMR or 2 measles immunizations (1st dose of measles on or after your 1st birthday; 2nd dose at least 28 days later); <strong>OR<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000080\">Lab results showing a positive measles titer.\u00a0 (Submit a copy of the lab results)<em>.\u00a0 <\/em><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080\"><em><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">2. Proof of immunity to <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/vaccines\/vpd\/mumps\/index.html\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Mumps<\/span><\/a>: <\/strong>you must provide proof of the following: \u00a0<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000080\">2 MMR or 2 mumps immunizations (1st dose of Mumps must be on or after your 1st birthday; 2nd dose at least 28 days later); <strong>OR\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000080\">Lab result showing a positive mumps titer.\u00a0 (Submit a copy of the lab results)2nd dose must be at least 28 days from 1st dose<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080\"><em><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">3.\u00a0 Proof of immunity to <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/vaccines\/vpd\/rubella\/index.html\">Rubella<\/a>: <\/strong><\/span>you must provide proof of the following:<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000080\">2\u00a0MMR or 2\u00a0rubella immunizations (1st dose of measles on or after your 1st birthday; 2nd dose at least 28 days later); <strong>OR<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000080\">Lab results showing a positive\u00a0rubella titer.\u00a0 (Submit a copy of the lab results)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080\"><em><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">4.\u00a0 Proof of immunity to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/vaccines\/vpd\/varicella\/index.html\"><strong>Varicella<\/strong><\/a><\/span>(chicken pox): you must provide proof of the following:<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000080\">2 varicella immunizations (2nd dose at least 28 days after the 1st dose.); <strong>OR<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000080\">Lab result showing a positive varicella titer. (Submit a copy of the lab result)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080\"><em><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">5. Proof of <\/span><\/em><strong><em><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/vaccines\/vpd\/mening\/public\/index.html\">Meningitis<\/a> (MenACWY)\/Menactra\/MCV4<\/span>: <\/em><\/strong><em>administered <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">within the past five years<\/span> is required for all campus residents prior to room assignment<\/em>. The vaccine <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">must<\/span> include groups: A, C, Y, W-135.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;color: #000080\"><strong>RECOMMENDED (but not required) Immunizations:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"content\">\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000080\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/vaccines\/your-vaccination.html\">Covid-19<\/a>:\u00a0<\/strong>Beginning with Fall 2022 Semester, proof of COVID-19 vaccination is no longer required. We are strongly encouraging all students to be up to date with immunization and boosters.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000080\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/vaccines\/vpd\/hepb\/index.html\">Hepatitis B<\/a>:<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0American College Health, Public Health Department, and Centers for Disease Control\u00a0<u>recommend <\/u>students be immunized\u00a0against\u00a0<strong>Hepatitis B.\u00a0 <\/strong>Although not required, it is strongly recommended.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000080\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/vaccines\/vpd\/tetanus\/index.html\"><strong>Tetanus<\/strong><\/a>: Boosters are recommended every 10 years<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000080\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/vaccines\/vpd\/hpv\/public\/index.html\">HPV<\/a>:\u00a0<\/strong>HPV is common virus that can cause cancers later in life.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000080\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/vaccines\/vpd\/mening\/index.html\"><strong>Meningitis B Vaccine<\/strong><\/a>:\u00a0 Serogroup B vaccination is recommended for adolescents 16-23 years old.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"content\">\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080\"><strong><em><u>EXEMPTIONS for Required Immunizations:<\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000080\">Students born prior to January 1, 1957 are\u00a0<strong>exempt<\/strong>\u00a0from all immunization\u00a0requirements.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000080\">Students born prior to January 1, 1980 are exempt from the varicella requirement.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000080\"><em>For Items 1-4:\u00a0 Certification of confirmed case of measles, mumps, rubella &amp; varicella by a licensed <\/em><em>health care provider may be submitted in lieu of the above.<\/em><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000080\">The University will only permit vaccination exemptions for<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"> medical reasons<\/span> in accordance with CT State Law.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000080\">New Religious Exemptions are no longer accepted, however previously documented exemptions <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">prior to<\/span> April 2021 will be honored.\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000080\"><em>Exemptions subjects the individual to exclusion from<\/em>\u00a0<em>campus in the event of an outbreak of a disease for which immunizations are required.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000080\"><em>Exemption waiver form is available for download\u00a0<\/em><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000080\"><em><a style=\"color: #000080\" href=\"\/healthservices\/onlineforms\/\">staging.www.wcsu.edu\/healthservices\/onlineforms\/<\/a><\/em><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000080\"><em>Distance learning programs conducted entirely through electronic media in a setting without other students present are exempt.<\/em><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"content\">\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right\"><em>2\/2019<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>REQUIRED: State of Connecticut General Statutes\/ Section 10a-155 regulations requires all matriculated students born after December 31, 1956, to provide proof of adequate immunization against measles (rubeola), rubella, mumps and varicella (chicken pox) before permitting such students to enroll. 1. &hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":32,"featured_media":0,"parent":0,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"footnotes":""},"class_list":["post-18","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/staging.www.wcsu.edu\/healthservices\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/18","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/staging.www.wcsu.edu\/healthservices\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/staging.www.wcsu.edu\/healthservices\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/page"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/staging.www.wcsu.edu\/healthservices\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/32"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/staging.www.wcsu.edu\/healthservices\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=18"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/staging.www.wcsu.edu\/healthservices\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/18\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/staging.www.wcsu.edu\/healthservices\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=18"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
