Pre-Collegiate and Access Programs

EA²P Program

The Western Connecticut State University EA²P (Educational Achievement & Access) Program  for 2018 is designed for commuter students who are residents of Connecticut and New York State and who, as a condition of acceptance, enroll in Math (MAT 098) and Writing (WRT 098).  Through a rigorous five-week academic program, EA²P participants will be immersed in a learning experience that provides them with opportunities to become familiar with the campus, academic expectations, and university resources.

The students’ preparation for college is enhanced by their participation in a five week commuter program before starting Fall semester.  Student support and academic counseling are continued throughout the academic year. During the EA²P commuter summer program, academic courses in math and writing will be reinforced with tutorial sessions designed to prepare students for academic life.  Transitional workshops and campus presentations are created to promote achievement and student success in college.  Students will also participate in leadership and teambuilding activities provided by our P.A.S.S. program (Programs for Achieving Student Success),  Wide Angle Vision and various other departments on campus throughout the summer and academic year.

Tuition for the EA²P summer program is based on the EFC (Expected Family Contribution) which is determined by information submitted on the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) form.  Students must submit a complete FAFSA form to the Department of Education listing WCSU’s school code 001380.

The transition to college will be much simpler for EA²P students when they begin their college careers in the Fall.  Students will already be familiar with the campus, faculty and resources, as well as support from the EA²P staff and counselors.
