Summer Arts Intensive

 

JULY 17-19, 2019

 

Save the date for our three-day high school summer intensive. Held at the state-of-the-art Visual & Performing Arts Center at Western Connecticut State University. World class professionals in Art Music and Musical Theatre will be conducting three separate intensives for students entering grades 9th-12th.

PHOTOGRAPHY

Participants will be immersed in various forms of film and digital image-making through a hands-on introduction to early photographic history and processes including cyanotypes, pinhole cameras, paper negatives, and both wet darkroom and digital darkroom developing.

STEEL PANS

Students will engage with Caribbean music and learn to play the national instrument of Trinidad and Tobago, the steel pan. Activities will include learning performance techniques, lead sheet harmonization, reading, and improvisation. Students will perform a brief concert at the end of the session.

MUSICAL THEATRE

Participants will have the opportunity to explore and learn musical theatre acting, choreography and singing. Classes will include working/presenting monologues along with various genres of dance and musical theatre.
