Student Technology Programs

There are many opportunities that exist for students who wish to enhance their college experience by putting their education to work. One of these opportunities includes on-campus employment. Information Technology & Innovation offers students interested in computers and technology opportunities to work in the computer centers on campus.

The general computer centers at WestConn are staffed with student lab assistants during operational hours. A lab assistant’s main responsibility is to monitor the facility in which he/she works, however, lab assistants also provide general assistance to students on various applications and peripherals available in the computer centers.

The Student Technology Training Center (STTC), a specialized computer facility, employs student trainers who have interests in the various and diverse technology fields and who are dedicated to facilitating the empowerment of the university’s student body.

Student trainers are responsible for conducting workshops and tutorials on Microsoft Office products, a variety of graphic design software packages, computer equipment and peripherals, the Internet, and Webpage design. Student trainers must be energetic and personable since the STTC caters to those individuals requiring more individualized computer assistance.

Working in the computer centers and STTC provide students with an opportunity to build an impressive resume, earn money, meet others with similar interests, and work in a team environment.
