[Acting, Audition Techniques]

MICHAEL BARTOLI is an actor, singer and acting coach trained in various theatrical disciplines and styles.  Most recently, Michael played the title role in A Letter to Harvey Milk in the New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) which won the festival award for Most Promising New Musical of 2012.  He followed that with the New York premiere of a brand new translation by Graham Schmidt of The Seagull, playing the role of Shamraev.  Michael has also appeared in the National Tour of Joseph/Dreamcoat (Starring Patrick Cassidy and Deborah Gibson) as well as the Paper Mill Playhouse production.  He has appeared Off-Broadway in Forbidden Broadway Cleans Up Its Act, Forbidden Broadway Strikes Back, and Columbus.  Other regional and stock credits include As You Like It, Present Laughter, 1940s Radio Hour, Going Hollywood, Annie and many others.  
 
Michael has conceived and developed two one-man shows, Come On and Hear and I’m Old Fashioned, celebrating the Great American Songbook, which have been presented in various cabaret venues and for various cruise lines.  In 2011, he appeared in a joint venture between ShakespeareNYC and Heliotrope Shakespeare Productions in King Lear (Albany) and Midsummer Night’s Dream (Peter Quince) for what will become a series of downloadable video books (Vooks), a brand new medium, now available for sale online.

Michael recently launched his no-nonsense approach to coaching classical acting, It’s Just Shakespeare and has taught as an adjunct faculty member at The City College of New York in the Theatre & Speech department.

He holds a BFA in Musical Theatre from Syracuse University and an MFA in Classical Acting from The Shakespeare Theatre Company’s Academy for Classical Acting at George Washington Univ, where he appeared in rep productions of Pericles (Gower) and Women Beware Women (Guardiano).
