Frank Schiro – (Music Director/Conductor)

Frank is delighted to be working at WCSU for the first time on the production of Evita with this very talented and committed group of students and faculty.  As a musical director Frank has worked in New York and regionally for 25 years. Recently, Frank music directed the Rent salute for the NYU Tisch graduation ceremony at Radio City Music Hall.  Some of Frank’s favorite music directing/conducting projects are Sweeney Todd, How To Succeed…, Commedia Tonite, Back to Bacharach, Closer Than Ever, and Little Shop of Horrors, in NYC and regionally.

As a composer, in the fall of 2016, Frank’s original musical Pryor Rendering (music/lyrics), with Shawn Churchman (book) received its world premiere at City Repertory Theatre in Oklahoma City and the American Theatre in Tulsa, OK.  Other composing credits:  Twice Upon A Birthday, a children’s opera (sung by adults), commissioned by Connecticut Opera: World premiere Tulsa Opera, 2015-16;

New York: The Happy Prince, (Book, music and lyrics), produced on Theatre Row in NYC, NYMF festival; The Beloved Dearly (Music), TADA! Theatre;  Dog And His Master (Music and sound design), Lark Theater;  Commedia Tonite! (Music and lyrics), Lark Theatre; Twelfth Night, Wild Pantalettes Of Verona and A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Music and sound design), American Globe Theater.

Frank is an alumnus of the advanced BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop and was the Composer In Residence at the Lark Theatre in New York.  He composed the score for the short film “Pepe And Pierre”, starring Tony© Award nominee Isabel Keating (Official Selection: Atlantic City Film Festival, Providence Film Festival). Frank is the recipient of a Meet the Composer Grant and the American Liberty Grant. He is an adjunct professor at the Steinhardt School of Performing Arts Professions, Vocal Perfomance, at New York University.
