Veterans Supportive Housing
Applications are now being accepted for the Veterans Supportive Housing Program at WCSU! Applications are due to the Office of Veterans Affairs by Monday, February 13th at 3pm. Late applications will not be accepted. Open House tours will be held February 7th from 10am-2pm and February 8th from Noon-4pm. Three apartments are available in this newly-remodeled home specifically for student-veterans attending WCSU. Rents will be determined by income however it will hover around 30% of one's taxable income. Pets are allowed. Trash removal and water are included. Student-veteran is responsible for all other utilities (electric, natural gas, cable, internet, etc). Please contact the WCSU Office of Veterans Affairs if you have any questions! Field of Flags 2016
Beginning Monday, October 24th at 9:00am, the Office of Veterans Affairs and the WCSU Student-Veterans Organization will begin placing 7,008 U.S. Flags on the lawn in front of Old Main on the Midtown Campus. Each flag represents a service member who has been killed in the line of duty since the War on Terror began on September 11, 2001. The flags will remain on display until Friday, November 18th. If you would like to volunteer your time and place some flags with others, please contact Matthew Kuchta (WCSU Veterans Affairs Coordinator) at KuchtaM@wcsu.edu.
Summer 2016 Classes
Throughout the summer, WCSU offers three summer sessions during which students may take classes. The VA allows students to use benefits during these sessions and, depending on the number of credits taken during each session, the student will be entitled to receive full-time benefits when classes are in taking place. Please contact the VA Coordinator at KuchtaM@wcsu.edu or (203) 837-8840 for more information about registering for classes or possible benefits.
Fall 2016 Registration
Registration for Fall 2016 is on-going so be sure to meet with your Advisor or visit the Academic Advisement Center to select your classes. Once registered, don't forget to complete the Veterans Affairs Educational Registration Form and return to the Veterans Affairs Office so your VA benefits will be paid on-time!
Pets and Vets Spring 2016
The second Pets and Vets event will be held Wednesday, April 20th on the Midtown Quad. The WCSU Student Veterans Organization and WCSU Office of Veterans Affairs has partnered with the Danbury Animal Welfare Society (DAWS) in an effort to raise money and collect supplies for the shelter. The event will take place between 10am and 1pm and will feature a number of adoptable dogs and cats from DAWS.
Veterans Day 2015
WCSU will host a Veterans Day ceremony at 11:30 a.m. on the Quadrangle of the university's Midtown campus, 181 White St. in Danbury. A reception will follow in Warner Hall. The public is invited. For more information, send an email to email@example.com.
