Interviewing 101

Congratulations! Your diligent research, great professional documents, and fearless networking have landed you an interview!  Now, what do you do to prepare?

There is an array of information you will need to know to feel confident walking into the interview. Before we begin, it’s important to understand the forms of communication in which you might be asked to attend.

Below are the forms you may encounter:

  • Tradition/In-Person Interview
  • Phone Interview
  • Email Interview
  • Skype/Virtual Interview

It may seem overwhelming, but take it one step at a time. There are several things to take into considerations and this is the best place to begin. Preparation is the key to success and learning how to interview, which includes doing the research, practicing answering and asking common and industry-specific questions, along with following up, all play a part in your success. Advance preparation involves: gathering the information you will need to convince the employer that you have the skills, industry knowledge, experience, motivation, your enthusiasm about the company, and how you would fit well within the company culture, are all things to begin thinking about, and the Interview portion of this website will help you achieve that.
